Apostle Paul’s Holy Water

East of the position where now Vlatades monastery stands used to be a spring. It is said that Apostle Paul stopped there to drink some water. Every year at this spring, which is known as “Apostle Paul’s Holy Water”, people have been honoring the Apostle. It’s located in a beautiful park-property of the “Charitable Brotherhood of Men from Thessaloniki. Believers from all over the world worship the space of Holy Water and enjoy the magnificent views of the Thermaikos Gulf and Thessaloniki from above. In the same area there is also the Orthodox Church of St. Paul, designed by architect Xenophon Paionidis and inaugurated in 1922.
