The core of the museum’s collections and exhibitions is the Georgios Kostakis Collection, which includes 1277 masterpieces (paintings, drawings, constructions, porcelains etc) by the most significant Russian Avant Garde artists (early 20th century, K. Malevich, L. Popova, G. Klucis, A. Rodchenko, I. Klium etc). The museum also exhibits an exceptional collection of contemporary artists’ work.
Throughout its history, the museum held numerous significant exhibitions and collaborated with many contemporary art museums in Greece and internationally. It also publishes special catalogues, implements international scientific conventions and educational activities. Moreover, it has been organizing the Thessaloniki Biennale of Contemporary Art since 2007, in close collaboration with many cultural institutions.
The museum’s exhibitions are periodical.
