One of the infrequent samples of pure neoclassical style in the city, the building of the former Greek Consulate designed by the famous architect Ernst Ziller. The building was completed in 1893 and the national benefactor Andreas Syngros took over the cost of its construction. During the period 1904-1908 the Greek consulate of Thessaloniki became a headquarters center of the Macedonian Struggle. Since 1981, the Museum of Macedonian Struggle operates there.
