The TIF at the Megaron: An American in George Gershwin’s Paris

Thessaloniki ’s State Orchestra in collaboration with the Thessaloniki Concert Hall presents on Sunday 22 May 2022, the symphonic poem:An American in Paris by George Gershwin.
Gershwin wrote his well-known symphonic poem An American in Paris in 1927, when he visited the City of Light to study with the great French composers of the time. His aim was to convey with his music the impressions of an American tourist walking around the city and experiencing the famous Parisian atmosphere.
In the first part, Antonis Sousamoglou performs Christos Papageorgiou’s Violin Concerto, a demanding work that exudes Greek musical tradition.
