ART THESSALONIKI INTERNATIONAL CONTEMPORARY ART FAIR is organised by the National Agency for The Organisation of Exhibitions, Congresses and Cultural Events (HELEXPO S.A.) together with Pantelis Tsatsis, Artistic Director.
This is an art fair that invests in the strategically important geographic location of Thessaloniki, its multicultural identity, its rich and long history. Thessaloniki’s history spans some 2,300 years. An important metropolis by the Roman period, Thessaloniki was the second largest and wealthiest city of the Byzantine Empire. Thessaloniki is home to numerous notable Byzantine monuments several Roman, Ottoman and Israel structures. Worldwide known Mount Athos with its Monasteries, Mount Olympus, home of the ancient Greek Gods, Vergina Archaeological Museum (Royal Tombs) and Amphipolis are only an hour away from Thessaloniki.
Thessaloniki, 2014 European Youth Capital, is a popular tourist destination in Greece and renowned for its festivals, events and vibrant cultural life in general. It is considered to be Greece’s cultural capital. Events such as the Thessaloniki International Trade Fair and the Thessaloniki International Film Festival are held annually.
In 2010, Lonely Planet ranked Thessaloniki as the world’s fifth-best party city worldwide, comparable to other cities such as Dubai and Montreal. The International Contemporary Art Fair is organised in a city open to fresh ideas, rejuvenated, hospitable and safe, offering up multicultural journeys, unique elements of localisation and enjoyable gastronomic taste.

More than 10,000 art lovers from 22 countries visited the Art Thessaloniki International Contemporary Art Fair every year.
At the opening of the 5th Art-Thessaloniki Fair, the award-winning composer as the world best of the year Lina Tonia will premiere her new composition.
The honored artist will be the peer professor Yiannis Fokas and an honorary distinction will be given to the artist Dimitris Alithinos for his work and personality.
In addition to the participation of 30 galleries from Greece and abroad and 15 parallel projects, the museum exhibition will be presented with works by internationally renowned artist Victor Vasarely in collaboration with the Museum of Drawing Skopje.
The Ethnographic Center of George Meliki will present the original installation, K.P. Kavafi “REMEMBER BODY… the beds where you leaned”.
Special tribute to the Greek revolution 1821-2021, by the painter and pen of philhellene painters. Works by A. FRIEDEL, P.V. HESS, newspapers and letters 1821-1828.
For the 2nd time the Cultural Society of Entrepreneurs of Northern Greece in collaboration with Art-Thessaloniki Fair, we have the “MATAROA” awards. We had 120 entries and 10 artists were selected who will present their work in individual stands. There will be three cash prizes with the votes of the visitors.
At the same time, the International Book Fair will operate in the other stands of TIF-HELEXPO.
