MOSAICS ROUTE

The wall mosaics of Thessaloniki, masterpieces of high artistic and religious significance made by skilled artists from the 4th century AD up to 14th century AD, decorate the monuments and bear as eternal witnesses for the continuous significance, economic growth and cultural development of the city. UNESCO pays tribute to Thessaloniki’s mosaics at its official website (mosaics of six city’s monuments which are included in the World Heritage Sites list), emphasizing on their major importance especially during the time of the early Christian art.
