ANOPOLIS WORLD MUSIC FESTIVAL 2024

The Anopolis World Music Festival returns for the fourth consecutive year, from Tuesday 10 to Thursday 12 September 2024, and invites you to a musical three-day festival of contemporary creation in public space, in squares, hidden corners and monuments of Ano Poli.

Drawing inspiration from musical traditions of the world, especially this year from the Mediterranean repertoire, from tunes and songs of the Caucasus and Anatolia region, and the sounds of the Balkans, duo and trio music groups based mainly in, Thessaloniki, will present original creations and arrangements of traditional compositions, through experimentation, improvisation, different languages and styles, merging places near and far, the familiar and the unfamiliar, the familiar and the unknown.

Nine concerts in nine different locations in Ano Polis, in three days of contemporary musical expression that echoes the historically multicultural character of Ano Poli and Thessaloniki; a festival that promotes the importance of the presence of art and citizens in public space, while enhancing the interaction between artists and the public, the individual and the collective, space and time; a music festival of contemporary musical culture for all.

The Anopolis World Music Festival is organized by the Civil Non-Profit Company olipoli, with the participation of the Directorate of Culture and Tourism of the Municipality of Thessaloniki and the Municipality of Neapolis-Sikeon, in cooperation with the 3rd Municipal Community of the Municipality of Thessaloniki and the Ephorate of Antiquities of Thessaloniki City. The festival is supported by the Ministry of Culture.
