Carnival Events in the Municipality of Neapolis Sykeon
The Municipality of Neapoli-Sykies in Thessaloniki invites everyone to a festive Carnival celebration for 2025, with free entry for all.
Events have been scheduled in Neapoli, Agios Pavlos, Sykies, and Pefka, as well as in the Municipal Libraries. The festivities kick off with the Tsiknopempti party, followed by the lighting of the “Fanos” and the Clean Monday celebrations.
Three traditional Lenten feasts will take place, complete with bean soup, flatbread (lagana), and wine, all offered for free from 11:00 AM.

Municipal Library of Sykies:
- Monday, February 17, 6:00 PM: Interactive game in English and Carnival crafts, in collaboration with the “Connect Family” Day Support Center of IASIS.
- Wednesday, February 19, 7:00 PM: Storytelling of a Carnival tale, mask-making, and face-painting with the association “A Child Looks at the Stars.”
- Monday, February 24, 5:30 PM: The dance group of the Neapoli-Sykies Municipality will present Carnival customs and dances through interactive games for young library visitors.
- Wednesday, February 26, 7:00 PM: “Martis” bracelet-making for children with the association “A Child Looks at the Stars.”
Municipal Library of Neapoli:
- Wednesday, February 19, 6:00 PM: Interactive game in English and Carnival crafts, in collaboration with the “Connect Family” Day Support Center of IASIS.
- Monday, February 24, 6:00 PM: Mask-making with the association “A Child Looks at the Stars,” followed by a performance of Carnival dances by the municipal dance group at 7:00 PM.
- Wednesday, February 26, 5:30 PM: “Martis” bracelet-making for children with the association “A Child Looks at the Stars.”
Municipal Library of Pefka:
- Monday, February 17, 6:00 PM: Carnival storytime, mask-making, and face-painting with the association “A Child Looks at the Stars.”
- Wednesday, February 26, 6:00 PM: “Martis” bracelet-making for children with the association “Techniesa.”

Tsiknopempti and Clean Monday Celebrations:
D. Apatsidis, president of KEUNS, confirms that everything is ready for the famous Patinada (street parade), a highly anticipated event in Neapoli that attracts a large number of masqueraders. They will gather at Valsami Park at 6:00 PM and parade toward the Clock at Eirini Square, where the party will continue with live music and barbecue grills. The first big celebration is scheduled for Thursday, February 20, at 7:00 PM.
On Monday, February 24, Agios Pavlos will light up a large Fanos, reviving a tradition from Eratyra, Kozani, accompanied by the brass band of Fotis Tsiotikas, at the junction of Ohi Avenue and Ipirou Street. The festivities will start at 7:00 PM.
The Carnival events in the Municipality of Neapoli-Sykies will culminate on Clean Monday, March 3, 2025, with three traditional celebrations organized by KEUNS. In Neapoli, the festivities will take place at the Roumanika Park, where Nikos Taleas’ orchestra will start the dancing.
In Sykies, the event will be held at the Dendrofyteia (Sykeon Grove), with Dimitris Kechagias and his band offering beloved popular music. At the courtyard of the closed gym in Pefka, the band “Akoustmata Paradosis” will entertain those who wish to celebrate the beginning of Lent.
All three Lenten feasts will feature traditional dishes such as bean soup, lagana bread, and wine, served for free from 11:00 AM.
