€5 – €6Cinema with a View 2024-Screening schedule: Summer Cinema at the Athens Concert Hall
Cinema with View 2024 on the roof of the M2 building at the Thessaloniki Concert Hall, is again this summer the ultimate summer cinema of Thessaloniki, offering magical nights under the starry sky, with films that move, reflect, entertain and travel us to the magical world of the 7th art.
This summer’s Cinema with a View programme, curated as every year by the Thessaloniki Film Festival, promises to offer viewers a unique experience that will give us beautiful memories.
The enchanting, cool, summer nights of “Cinema with View” return this year, bringing with them unique cinematic escapes with excellent films at Thessaloniki’s favourite summer cinema.
For the tenth consecutive year, the Thessaloniki Concert Hall and the Thessaloniki Film Festival are staging a summer cinema that enchants the audience, on the roof of the M2 building of the Thessaloniki Concert Hall, with a breathtaking view of the Thermaikos Gulf.
Since 2015, Cinema with a View has established itself as the top summer outing for cinema lovers living in the city.
This year’s film program is rich and varied, offering something for every cinematic taste and promising unforgettable experiences under the stars.
Let’s take a look at the choices to enjoy this summer.
We start with the documentary “Yannis Spanos: behind the marquee” by Aris Doriza.
.
This work takes us through the life and career of Yannis Spanos, from his childhood in Kiato to his important collaborations in Paris and his artistic success in Greece.
Through rare interviews and documents, the documentary sheds light on Spanos’ influence and contribution to the music scene.
This film was the closing screening of the 26th Thessaloniki Documentary Festival.
Next, Tran An Hung’s film “On Fire”, starring the acclaimed actress Gillette Binoche in the leading role, comes to captivate us with a combination of romantic drama and period film.
In this culinary love story, the film celebrates the fine art of cooking, seeking the secret ingredients of love and human connection.
The film won the Director’s Prize at the Cannes Film Festival and was the opening film of the 64th Thessaloniki Film Festival.
Another important film is “Fallen Leaves” by the great Finnish director Aki Kaurismaki. This moving story teaches us that empathy, humanity and caring can warm our hearts and heal every wound and suffering in a cruel world.
The programme also includes the films “Next stop” by Danielle Lesovic, “Strella” by Panos X. Koutras and “AKOE/AMFI: The Story of a Revolution” by Joseph Vardakis, which will be screened on 24, 25 and 26 June 2024 respectively.
Through these screenings, the Thessaloniki Film Festival and the Thessaloniki Concert Hall support EuroPride 2024 Thessaloniki.
These three screenings will be free of charge, requiring only the issue of a special ticket.
Finally, Charlotte Regan’s film “The Alani” brings a tender and imaginative humour, distanced from classic British working class cinema.
It tells the magical story of two people who become entangled: a daughter forced to grow up fast and a father faced with life’s difficulties.
