OLYMPIC FLAME WEEK

The heart of the Olympic Games is beating in Paris, exactly 100 years after the last event that took place in the City of Light (1924). A few months before the opening of the 33rd Olympic Games, the Thessaloniki Olympic Museum organizes and presents the “OLYMPIC FLAME WEEK”, a series of actions that seeks to make the ideals of sport the basis of the philosophy of life of the new generation. EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMMES, PRESS CONFERENCE, EXHIBITION OPENING, SUPPORT OF OLYMPIC FLAME and many more surprises await our young and old friends this week at the Thessaloniki Olympic Museum!!!

FRIDAY 12 APRIL!

EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM “PARIS 2024” – 1ST “FRANCOPHONE THEATRE FESTIVAL”

Starting from Friday 12/4, in collaboration with the French Institute, more than 300 students and teachers visited the Olympic Museum and participated in an educational program focusing on the institution of the Torch Relay and the message “GAMES WIDE OPEN” of the Olympic Games “Paris 2024”. This was followed by the 1st “Francophone Theatre Festival”, where the children had the opportunity to present excerpts from great French-language plays.

WEDNESDAY 17 APRIL

Presentation of the actions of the “Olympic Flame Week” organized and implemented by the Thessaloniki Olympic Museum.

19:00 | OPENING OF THE PHOTO EXHIBITION: “SPORT AND FRATERNITY”

The French Institute of Thessaloniki in collaboration with the Thessaloniki Olympic Museum present, in view of the Olympic Games “Paris 2024”, the photography exhibition entitled “Sport and Fraternity” inspired by the idea of the Olympic Truce. The exhibition will be inaugurated by the Consul General of France, Jean-Luc Laveau, together with the Mayor of Thessaloniki, Stelios Angeloudis. A guided tour of the Museum and a relaxed reception will follow.

SUNDAY 21 APRIL

16:00 | EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMMES – RECEPTION OF THE OLYMPIC FLAME

We are counting down for the Reception of the Olympic Flame and invite you to send together a strong message of peace, solidarity and unity around the world, through coordinated actions that inspire the new generation with the Olympic Idea and the Values of Olympism. Youtuber and content creator PanosDent (Panos Evtaxis) sets the pulse and prepares us for the Reception of the Flame!!!

The highlight of our actions is the reception of the Olympic Flame at the Museum on Sunday 21/4. The Thessaloniki Olympic Museum is a station on the route of the Sacred Flame carrying a message of reconciliation of peoples, peace and fair play at a global level.The arrival of the Sacred Flame will be followed by the Handover Ceremony of the Olympic Torch “Paris 2024”.
