The 9th Forest Festival 2023 in Thessaloniki – Detailed Programme

The 9th Thessaloniki Forest Festival 2023, the great summer celebration of Northern Greece, presents a top cultural program with concerts and theatrical performances, in which renowned artists of the domestic and international music scene participate.

The venues that will host the cultural events of the 9th Forest Festival, from May to the end of September 2023, are the Forest Theatre, the Earth Theatre, the Theatre of the Society for Macedonian Studies, the Royal Theatre and the Small Theatre of the Lazariston Monastery.

The 9th Forest Festival, with the prestige and signature of the National Theatre of Greece, which hosts in all its stages, returns for another year, with top theatrical productions, musical performances, concerts and favourite artists.

The masters of the Pontian lyre, the Tsahouridis Brothers, will perform with Dimitris Basis at the Forest Theatre, while the well-known artists who accompany us every summer such as Miltos Paschalidis, Thanasis Papakonstantinou, Alkinoos Ioannidis, Alkistis Protopsaltis, Giorgos Dalaras and Pantelis Thalassinos will participate in the great summer celebration of our city.

But they will not be missing: Eleftheria Arvanitaki together with Eleonora Zouganeli, Socrates Malamas, Natassa Bofiliou and Mariza Rizou.

Of course, a summer of concerts in Thessaloniki without the public’s favourite Yannis Haroulis is unthinkable, which is why he will be present in the first days of July at the Earth Theatre in Triandria.

In the same venue in September 2023 we will enjoy Yannis Kotsiras performing with Miltos Paschalidis to welcome the autumn in Thessaloniki.

Similarly, the theatrical performances that enrich the program of the 9th Forest Festival in Thessaloniki are top productions with masterpieces of the ancient tragedians such as: Oedipus Tyrannus, Oedipus on Colonus, Troades, Persians, Electra, Medea, Bacchae, Hecuba, while the National Theatre participates in the theatrical events of the Forest Festival 2023, with the performance Hippolytus by Euripides.

But also contemporary theatre writing has its place on the stages of the 9th Forest Festival in Thessaloniki with productions such as The Accidental Death of an Anarchist by Dario Fo and the play by Giorgos Kapoutzidis – which we saw this winter at the Royal Theatre – Whoever wants to divorce… raise his hand!

The detailed program of the theatrical performances and concerts that have been scheduled from May to September 2023 for the 9th Forest Festival 2023 in Thessaloniki is available at the beginning of this article, which will be updated and enriched daily with any additions or postponements that will arise in the coming months.

The State Theatre of Northern Greece has announced the program for the 5th International Forest Festival, in the summer of 2023 at the open stages of the National Theatre of Northern Greece and in locations in Thessaloniki.

KTHBE continues its summer appointment and is preparing feverishly to welcome with great pleasure theatre lovers and visitors of Thessaloniki.

The concerts and theatrical performances that will be hosted in the open theatres of the State Theatre of Northern Greece will be the protagonists of the Festival, for the 9th year in our city.

All roads this summer lead to Northern Greece for the Forest Festival 2023 in Thessaloniki. We will all be there!
