Bougatsa of Thessaloniki (sweet pie with cream)


    40 years ago “bougatsa” pie became known in Thessaloniki when some craftsmen from Serres settled here. Within a few years the city was full of bougatsa shops. The preparation of the sheet and the cream are real art! Today, there are about 1,000 shops where you can taste the sweet pies with cream, icing sugar and cinnamon but also its variations with cheese, minced meat, spinach or plain sheet with coarse sugar.
