The school pedestrian streets that became favorite fun spot! Few years ago, Iktinou and Zefxidos placed in the heart of Thessaloniki, were two streets known for school blocks of Iktinou street. With particular style and friendly places , relaxed atmosphere, the cafes, cocktail bars, bistrots, etc., made their appearance, and quickly got their loyal customers. Next to Iktinou is the popular Pavlou Mela Street, with its commercial shops and its own entertainment haunts. At the junction of the Mackenzie King and Iktinou Streets you will come across the church-catacomb of Agios Ioannis Prodromos (St. John the Baptist). Going down the stairs you will find yourself in a small oasis of green and freshness. Formerly a Roman bath, early Christian baptistery, with well preserved catacombs, the church of St. John the Baptist is one of the finest pieces of ‘underground’ history of Thessaloniki.
