The essence of the East passes through the multicolor market of Bezesteni, one of the most characteristic structures of Ottoman period, and simultaneously one of the few markets worldwide, maintaining their original use for more than 500 years. It is a rectangular building with four entrances and six domes covered in lead, erected in late 15th – early 16th century, functioning as a textiles and precious stones market. Most of the stores currently occupying the market, still sell textiles and jewelry.
