After 14 sold-out performances in the centre of Thessaloniki (theatre AYLIA), the play is extended to Kalamaria! “Attention.

The devised performance of the Trochies Theatre Company highlights the key and timelessly unresolved issue of Thessaloniki: the Metro, a multidimensional issue with political, economic, cultural and social implications, hidden for many years under the carpet.

How long does one have to wait for a project to be completed? When did the construction of the Thessaloniki Metro acquire a mythological, anecdotal and symbolic character, affecting the collective psyche of the city? How soon will we forget the images of construction sites in the Post-Metro Era, when sophisticated automatic trains will arrive every two minutes? In the performance “Attention: projects in progress”, stations from the real history of the Metro, interviews with stakeholders, questionnaires and field research are intertwined with fictional stories and personal reflections, turning the wait for the Metro into an alternative social reflection.

A group of young actors, who don’t remember what Thessaloniki was like without construction sites, investigate the stagnation-movement dichotomy on stage in an attempt to answer the question: What kind of movement do the young people of the city dream of, not only on the streets but also in their lives? Struggling to resist a law of resignation, the group creates a project about the project. A project desperately seeking its completion.
