Carnival 2025 in the Municipality of Lagada

The Carnival events of Lagkadas Municipality in Thessaloniki for 2025 will take place from Saturday, February 15th, to Clean Monday, March 3rd, 2025, in Lagkadas, Askos, and Sohos. The organizers promise unique carnival experiences with traditional customs such as the bell-bearers (Koudounofori), Momogeroi, traditional wedding re-enactments, traditional dances, theater performances, music, and carnival parades.

Lagkadas The “Lagkadas Carnival” returns, refreshed and exciting. The festivities kick off at 12 PM with the percussion group “aiNdos,” a street band promising to boost the energy with their four-hour musical performance featuring rhythms from around the world. At 4 PM, the grand parade begins from the 1st Primary School of Lagkadas, showcasing original costumes, vivid colors, humor, and satire, making its way to the 2nd Primary School.

Askos The Askos Carnival, first held in 1958, continues its 67-year tradition of laughter, satire, and fun. The three-day celebration includes a traditional feast with live music on Friday, February 28th, a children’s party, wedding parody, and folk night on Saturday, March 1st, followed by a float parade on Sunday, March 2nd.

Sohos Sohos will host a rich array of carnival events, starting with an art exhibition on Saturday, February 15th, followed by a tribute to the renowned lyricist Eftychia Papagianopoulou. Traditional customs such as “Mabogeroi” and other cultural performances will take place in the central square on Sunday, February 16th. Events will culminate with parades, traditional dances, and a grand feast around cleansing fires on Saturday, March 1st, and Sunday, March 2nd.

Throughout the celebrations, visitors can explore the Local Museum of Sohos, featuring free entry and exhibits of traditional costumes, including the iconic bell-bearers’ attire.
