Carnival of Chalkidona

After 10 years of absence, the traditional Halkidona Carnival and the much-talked-about yogurt fights will be revived on Sunday, March 2, 2025, attracting thousands of people from Thessaloniki and the surrounding areas.

Just half an hour from the center of Thessaloniki, the Cultural and Educational Association of Halkidona aims once again to fill the main street of Halkidona-Veroia (Fani Miskaki Street) with young and old carnival-goers. They promise lots of dancing, fun, and crazy excitement!

Clubs, schools, volunteers, and residents, young and old, will take action and actively participate in organizing one of the most beautiful and entertaining events in the area.

The Cultural and Educational Association of Halkidona, with the support of the municipality of Halkidona, invites the public to the following events:

• Carnival parade of floats and participants on Sunday, 02/03/2025, at 12:00 on the main road of Halkidona-Veroia (Fani Miskaki Street).
• Yogurt fights on Sunday, 02/03/2025, at 14:00 in Halkidona Square.
• The traditional burning of the Carnival effigy on Sunday, 02/03/2025, at 19:00 in Halkidona Square, with a DJ, wine, sausages, fireworks, and of course, lots of fun and dancing!
• Clean Monday celebrations on 03/03/2025 at 11:00 in Halkidona Square, with traditional dances, flatbread (lagana), and bean soup (fasolada)
