Chamber Music Festival Liederabend
The Chamber Music Festival, co-organized by the Thessaloniki State Orchestra and the Archaeological Museum of Thessaloniki with the support of the Ministry of Culture, continues with a wonderful evening of song featuring works by great composers such as Schubert, Liszt, Schumann, R. Strauss and Mahler. These musical evenings of poetry set to music for voice and piano accompaniment form a widespread Romantic tradition that began in Germany and gradually expanded to countries all over the world.
Performing is the internationally acclaimed countertenor Nikolas Spanos, accompanied by the highly talented Thessaloniki-born pianist Chrysanthos Therianos, who participates as part of his distinction in the “Listening to the Young” program, with which the TSSO collaborates.
The innovative program “Listening to the Young” is a comprehensive support initiative for emerging classical musicians, offering concerts, recordings and festivals, with the aim of introducing young artists to their future audiences.
It is implemented thanks to the collaboration between the Kalogeropouleio Foundation, the DIAZOMA association, the Athens Concert Hall and the Third Programme of Greek Radio, while partnering with major cultural institutions in Greece, such as the State Orchestras of Thessaloniki and Athens, the Underground Youth Orchestra and the This is Athens City Festival.
