Biography Despina Vandi:

Born in Tybingen, Germany on July 22, 1969, to a family of Pontian descent. At the age of 6, the family moved to Greece, specifically to Kavala, where Vandi spent her youth.

She attended the Department of Philosophy, Pedagogy and Psychology at the Faculty of Philosophy of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, but did not complete her studies.

She started her career in 1991, after attending singing and vocal lessons. For several years she worked in nightclubs in Thessaloniki.

In 1993 she left Thessaloniki and moved to Athens. She was one of the young guys who accompanied Vassilis Karras at “Posidonio” in the group “Vassilis Karras – Katie Garbi”. At the same time she accepted an offer to sign her first record contract.
