Moscow Soloists Yuri Bashmet at the Thessaloniki Concert Hall

The great viola soloist and conductor Yuri Bashmet founded the Moscow Soloists string ensemble in 1986. Since then, the ensemble has performed successfully around the world, has won a Grammy Award and has acquired a vast repertoire of over three hundred and fifty works, both classical and contemporary.
As worthy ambassadors of the music of their homeland, the Moscow Soloists have chosen to perform a purely Russian programme, dominated by Tchaikovsky’s Memory of Florence. A work of his maturity, it stands out for its melodiousness and dynamism, although it is rarely heard in concert halls today.
