CONFERENCE AT THE OLYMPIC MUSEUM OF THESSALONIKI FOR THE INTERNATIONAL MUSEUM DAY WITH INTERNATIONALLY RENOWNED KEY SPEAKERS
On the occasion of the celebration of the International Museum Day and the central theme “Museums Unite the World”, the Olympic Museum of Thessaloniki, in co-organization with the Thessaloniki Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI), announces the holding of the Conference entitled: “Museum Tourism: Social & Economic Development”. The event will take place on Monday, May 18, at 9:30 a.m., at the amphitheater of the Olympic Museum of Thessaloniki.
The central focus of the conference is the potential of museums as a strategic tool for tourism development and strengthening the local economy. The conference aims to highlight the potential that museums and museum tourism offer in the development of cities and in strengthening extroversion, through best international practices and synergies with the business world.
The conference will feature distinguished personalities of international prestige as keynote speakers: Dr. Xavier Greffe, President of the International Scientific Committee ISCEC of ICOMOS, Professor of Economics at the University of Paris I – Sorbonne and Advisor to the European Commission, as well as Adrian Ellis, founder of AEA Consulting and the Global Cultural Districts Network.
The program will be completed by panel discussions with representatives of institutional bodies, as well as culture and tourism professionals, who will focus on the role of museums as levers of sustainable development and the possibilities of connecting cultural heritage with modern entrepreneurship.
