Résonances | REWRITINGS and Materialities 1982–2025 Exhibition by Ari Georgiou | French Institute of Thessaloniki

In the exhibition, two timeless units of Ari Georgiou’s visual work intersect. The “REWRITINGS,” which began in 1982, are juxtaposed with the “Materialities / Matérialités” of the fifteen-year period 2000–2015.

“With their main common denominator being matter, texture, surface, trace, and their cross-references, they record, list, collect, and reconstruct through photography ‘episodes’ of the matter that surrounds us, which, depending on the case, emerge as potential instigators of emotion or reflection,” the artist notes.

The French title Résonances is anything but accidental, since “this particular word fuses concepts such as resonance, harmonic vibration, impact, echo, tuning, pulse, vibration, natural frequency, reflection, response, even reach.”
