SLIFT have built a reputation as one of the most explosive forces in contemporary heavy psych. The Toulouse trio – brothers Jean and Rémi Fossat along with Canek Flores – move effortlessly between stoner, garage and psych-metal, creating a massive, spacey sound that balances raw energy and existential tension. Their debut EP Space Is the Key laid the groundwork, while with La Planète Inexplorée the band began to unfold more ambitious, layered compositions. 2020 was a turning point: their KEXP session at Trans Musicales surpassed 1.7 million views and introduced them to a global audience. With UMMON they delved deep into the extremes of psych-metal. Massive bass, relentless drums, riffs that spread out like black holes. And then came ILION (Sub Pop, 2024): a dense, huge album, a cosmic takeoff that recalls the ecstasy of Godspeed You!
