€12,00The sin of my mother | Little Theatre of the Lazariston Monastery.
The State Theatre of Northern Greece hosts the play “The Sin of My Mother” by Georgios Vizinos directed by Konstantinos Giannakopoulos for three performances only at the Little Theatre of Lazariston Monastery on May 9, 10 and 11. One of the most important texts of modern Greek literature. The first Greek short story with a psychographic character that manages to transcend the narrow limits of the dramatization, penetrating into the psychological motivations of the protagonists. Viziinos is a pioneer, as for the first time in Greek short story writing the world of the soul is opened up. The world of consciousness and inner reflection. This short masterpiece with autobiographical elements was first published in 1883, translated into French in the Nouvelle Revue, and combines flowing and exciting narration with lively dialogue, mystery with suspense, but also the enigma that lingers from the mere hearing of the title of the work. What was the sin? It begins with the childhood of the narrator – George, marked by the illness of his sister Annie and the desperate but futile struggle of his mother to save her sickly girl from death. The guilt of loss subsequently prompts her to two successive adoptions of young girls, but these become the cause of neglecting her three other fatherless boys, and depriving them of maternal care.
