TWO ORANGES FOR CHRISTMAS | Avlaia Theatre

“Two Oranges for Christmas”, the successful performance of the new play by Konstantinos Marcellos, with the explosive interpretive trio (Yannis Dalianis, Giorgos Papapavlou and Eleni Stergiou) that has shocked audiences and critics in Athens, is coming for two performances only, at the AYLIA Theatre, on Monday 12 May at 20:00 and Sunday 13 May at 21:00. The director Konstantinos Markellos (author of “The Abduction of Tasoula”, “The Dancing Plague”, “The Sasma’s Itch”) and the actress Eleni Stergiou, founding members of This Famous Tiny Circus theatre group, travelled with their partner Petros Makris to Bucharest and recorded, on camera and on paper, testimonies of citizens who experienced the deprivations, fear, insecurity and censorship of the Ceausescu regime. Their shocking narratives became the ground for the birth of Konstantinos Marcellus’ fourth play, which, like the previous three, straddles the line between historical document and fiction.
