    Fish of the poor once the “bakaliaros”, quickly became a favorite food for the Thessalonians. Traditionally cooked in festivals and national Days such as March 25, Palm Sunday and the period of Lent before Christmas, when eating fish is allowed. It is one of the most delicious and spicy dishes and cooked in various ways. The best known way is the cod cooked without salt with batter and garlic sauce, accompanied with fries. You can find it in the taverns and ouzo bars of the port of Thessaloniki, which have written the history of cod in the last 60 years in our city.
