The 42nd Thessaloniki Book Festival 2023 welcomes us to Thessaloniki’s Nea Paralia every afternoon for 17 days, in the heart of summer, to introduce us to old and new beloved “friends”.
Books that accompany us like inseparable friends throughout our lives.
The Thessaloniki Book Festival 2023 is dedicated to two very important poets:
Poet and benefactor of Thessaloniki George Vafopoulos (120 years since his birth, 1903-2023) for his contribution to the Letters and the cultural events of the city
To the poet Kostis Palamas (80 years from his death, 1943-2023) for his contribution and greatness to Greek letters.
The opening of the Festival will take place at Nea Paralia, while as every year the programme of the Book Festival will include a number of events and activities.
Thousands of visitors attend the annual event in Thessaloniki, turning their stroll into an exciting book-loving escape and every year they renew their appointment for the next year, for over four decades.
For 17 days the white kiosks, so loved by the bibliophiles of the city, and the whole of Northern Greece, will beautify our summer walks, with all the books of modern Greek book production.
Thousands of book titles will be waiting for us, stacked in a row on the shelves of the publishing houses, attracting young and old to acquire them and share with them beautiful journeys to the endless world of knowledge.
The organizers of the Thessaloniki Book Festival, apart from the dates, released the official poster of the event, where we can see the white kiosks behind and next to the emblematic Umbrellas, the famous sculpture of Zongolopoulos, which adorns the Nea Paralia.
During the 42nd Thessaloniki Panhellenic Book Festival 2023, authors, writers and publishers will once again have the opportunity to get close to the reading public, talk to them and sign their books every day at their publishing houses’ newsstands.
The organisers are expected to announce soon the rich programme of parallel events and the activities that will take place daily from 23 June to 9 July 2023.
The Thessaloniki National Book Festival 2023 is co-organized by the Association of Publishers of Northern Greece and the Municipality of Thessaloniki, in cooperation with the Region of Central Macedonia.
It is under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture & Sports – Ministry of Interior (Sector Macedonia & Thrace).
