Focusing on the tourist advantages of the destinations and the forms of alternative tourism, the Tourism Organizations of Thessaloniki and Halkidiki gained the interest of the French Travel Agents in the B2B meetings of the Greek French Alternative Tourism & Gastronomy Workshop that took place on 13, 14 and 15 April 2021.
During the online meetings, the French travel agents expressed the tendency of French tourists to leave the distant traditional destinations and turn to closer ones looking for alternative experiences. The meetings showed that, despite the lean tourist season of 2020, Thessaloniki and Halkidiki won the preferences of individual French travelers last year, a fact that seems to be repeated this year.
In this context, Halkidiki and Thessaloniki were presented as an alternative proposal that uniquely combines the uninterrupted and multicultural history of the city, the rich gastronomic scene of Thessaloniki with the diversity and natural beauty of Halkidiki, with the local products of the Central Region. Macedonia as well as its hospitable people who offer special experiences to visitors and gain impressions.
