Gazi Evrenos, the important Bey and commander of Ottoman history died on November 17, 1417 and was buried in this mausoleum, which became a place of pilgrimage for Muslims of the Ottoman Empire. At the same time, it worked as a place of prayer, a common practice in Islamic mausoleums of important persons to whom were attributed properties of holiness. The mausoleum is open every Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 10 am until 5 pm.
